First of all, what the heck is "Emotional Intelligence"? Well, emotional intelligence begins developing in infancy. It is the ability to recognize one's own and other people's emotions, to discriminate between different feelings and label them appropriately, and to use emotional information to guide thinking and behavior.
...Now, if only we could more readily identify the emotion our child is trying to express and then in turn help our child to label that feeling,we could respond more quickly and more appropriately...without the full blown meltdown.
